International Development

DAI is offering three 12-month placement roles as part of our 2018/19 programme. The 12-month placements will be spent in either our Business Development (BDU) or Project Management (PMU) departments and, if successful, there may be the opportunity for employment in a permanent role at the conclusion of your degree.

These internships will start in September 2018, for a duration of 12 months. The closing date for applications is Friday 23rd February 2018. Apply here.

Business Development Interns:

  • Two months spent with DFID or EC project recruitment teams to support the staffing process for bid pre-positioning and live bids
  • Work with a bid manager to support the submission of at least two competitive tenders that are scheduled for release and submission during the 12-month period, with a particular focus on:
  • Preparation of financial information; working closely with the pricing analysts to support the development of financial proposals
  • Co-ordination with potential partners
  • Preparatory research (collating relevant documentation, examples of similar work elsewhere)
  • Working closely with bid manager/director to support the development of the technical approach to a particular programme
  • Preparation of one or more Expressions of Interest/PQQs
  • Work to support at least two EC or two DFID bids

 

Project Management Intern:

  • Support a Project Manager role on one or more well-established or new projects
  • Support the Quality Assurance Section (QAS) with the project support platform and the administration of the department, including:
  • Updating risk registers and issue logs
  • Promoting Quality Management System compliance
  • Developing contract amendments, PO amendments, and supplier on-boarding
  • Work with the QAS to develop at least one new support tool or system
  • Shadow and assist the PMU Coordinators in providing general administrative support to the Project Managers

 

Finance & International Development

Finance & International Development Interns:


Work with the Management accounting group in support of monthly reporting process. Activities to include:

  • Work with general ledger accounts in creating annual/monthly/quarterly reconciliations and schedules
  • Assist with month-end close process and journal entries
  • Perform Accounts Payable processes
  • Support budget development and analyse budget/trend performance for operation
  • Financial statement analysis
  • Assist with compliance requirements

 

Support the Project accounting group. Activities to include:

  • Shadow/support project accountant on one (or more) established projects
  • Maintain budgets, forecasts for projects
  • Variance analysis and commentary for projects
  • High Levels of Data Analysis & Manipulation
  • Liaising with Project Managers
